Chapel Hill Rentals
Locally Owned and Operated Apartments and Condominiums
2 Bedroom Unfurnished Apartments at
University Gardens Condominiums

These spacious condominiums are within easy walking distance of the UNC campus.   They are also on the "N" and "A" bus lines for those rainy days.   We rent to a mixture of students, married couples, families, and professionals.   We also have a few retired residents.

The apartments are very large, containing approximately 1,000 sq. ft.  Don't you hate apartments with no closet space?  Well, these units contain 4-5 large closets!   Some units have bookshelves.   All units are air conditioned, and there is a pool on the premises.   All appliances included except dishwasher.  Pets are negotiable, depending on your references.  Some units have hardwood floors, others have carpetting.   The apartments are located right next door to an extensive network of town-maintained nature and hiking trails, and a nice city park, playground, and tennis courts are adjacent to the complex.   The apartments are all-electric.   Most tenants feel that the utilities they pay (water and electric) are quite reasonable.  We also enforce our noise policy in order to assure residents of peaceful surroundings.

Many people often ask what the difference is between the Garden Style and the Townhouse Style.  The Garden Style condos are entirely on ground level and the entire apartment is on one floor.   These condos are built on a moderately steep slope, so that you walk down a set of stairs to go in the front door, but the back door is on ground level.  There are window wells around the front windows to let in light.   The back doors and rear windows open onto a small back yard, where you have a view of a wooded area.  The townhouses have their front door at ground level, so they do have a bit more natural light than the garden style.  The townhouses have both bedrooms and full bath upstairs. The living room, kitchen, and half-bath are downstairs.   The townhouses have a deck off the kitchen back door, and they also have bookshelves at the top of the stairs.  The actual square footage of both apartments is identical.  The bedrooms, full bathroom, and living room are exactly the same size.  The main difference is that the garden style has a huge kitchen which makes up for the space lost by the missing 1/2 bath (which the townhouses have).  The townhouse kitchen is not tiny, but it isn't enormous like the garden style.

Directions

If you are coming from the UNC campus:

Starting at the intersection of Franklin & Columbia (the main intersection in downtown Chapel Hill), head north on N. Columbia Street.   Cross Rosemary St.  As you start down the hill, you'll see a fire station directly ahead of you.  Here is the only tricky part!   The main 5-lane road you are on (N. Columbia) forks right at the fire station and changes names to Martin Luther King Boulevard.  However, do not take the right fork, but rather take the left fork at the fire station.   This continues to be North Columbia Street, but it becomes a 2-lane road at this point.  Stay on North Columbia for a few blocks, passing Isley and Stinson Streets.   When you come to Longview, you'll go a couple of different ways depending on which building you are going to.

For A/B/C buildings:  Cross Longview St., and you will immediately go around a very sharp curve to the right.  After going around the curve, take the next paved left.  This is the entrance to the A/B/C buildings.  (You will see a sign for University Gardens at the entrance.)  If you come to the stop sign at a development called Columbia Place, you've gone too far.)

For D/E/F buildings: Turn left on Longview before going around the sharp curve.  Take the next right at the dead-end, which is Pritchard Avenue Extension. Stay on Pritchard Avenue Extension until you are approximately halfway down a very long steep hill.  Turn right at the University Gardens D/E/F building sign on your right.

For G/H buildings: follow instructions for D/E/F buildings, except turn left at the G/H sign almost at the bottom of the long steep hill.

If you are coming from the North side of town (Hillsborough/I-40):

If you are coming on I-40, take exit 266.   Follow Highway 86 South towards Chapel Hill.  You'll pass several major intersections: Weaver Dairy Road, Homestead Drive, and Estes Drive.   After crossing Estes Drive, you'll go down a long steep hill.  Turn right at the traffic light at the bottom of the hill onto Umstead Drive.  Go to the 2nd stop sign.  Turn left.   Cross a small bridge.  You'll immediately see a large "University Gardens" sign on your right.   (The pool is located behind the sign.)  The G/H buildings are at your 1st right.   D/E/F buildings are the first left as you go up the steep hill, and the A/B/C buildings are the second left as you go up the steep hill.

If you are coming from Carrboro:

Take North Greensboro St.  Turn right on Estes Drive.  After crossing the railroad tracks, turn right onto Umstead Dr.   Go to 2nd stop sign.  Turn right.   G/H buildings are at your first right, D/E/F buildings are at your first left, and A/B/C buildings are at your second left.
